With over two decades of experience in education, I’ve had the joy of teaching a variety of specialist subjects—music, drama, and sport—at a private girls’ school in Australia. These creative fields have allowed me to explore and express my passion for music and performance daily, and they’ve become a cornerstone of my teaching journey.
In addition to my classroom experience, I’m LETRS-trained, which has deepened my expertise in early literacy instruction. I’m passionate about developing engaging, research-backed literacy resources that help young learners build strong foundational skills. Blending the arts with literacy has been a defining feature of my career, allowing me to inspire students across a wide range of disciplines.
As a music teacher, I bring energy, enthusiasm, and a whole lot of rhythm to every class. Singing, dancing, and making music with my students is not only fun—it’s a powerful way to keep them engaged and excited about learning. My lessons are active, dynamic, and built to spark joy.
I hold a Bachelor of Elementary Education with a specialization in music, which I earned in 2000. This foundation has guided my work in both traditional and creative educational spaces, and as I mentioned, I am also LETRS trained too
The photo to the right is from my home in Sydney, Australia, but I am originally from Western Canada.
I know music can sometimes feel intimidating—I’ve heard “but I can’t sing a note” more times than I can count! But I also know the transformative power of music in the classroom. It supports language development, builds confidence, and fosters connection. That’s why I create resources that make it easy for general classroom teachers to incorporate simple songs, rhymes, and raps into their lessons. Because truly, everything sounds better with a song.
While I’ve had many rewarding experiences throughout my career, my proudest achievement is being a mum. My daughter is my daily inspiration and the muse behind many of my creative endeavors. She keeps us busy with her activities, and my husband and I love watching her grow. Here’s an old photo of the three of us and our pup.
